PIKMIN FINDER
Pikmin Finder was a browser-based augmented reality mini-game developed to promote Pikmin 4 during the Nintendo Live 2023 event in Seattle. Players used their device to search their surroundings for Pikmin sprouts, pluck them, and send the Pikmin off to discover hidden treasures. The game featured all nine primary Pikmin types along with Oatchi, while Glow Pikmin could only be found between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. based on the player’s local time. There were 20 treasures in total, and after collecting them all, players could reset their progress and start the hunt again. The game was officially discontinued on December 31, 2024.
In Pikmin Finder, players plucked Pikmin from their surroundings using AR, then sent them to retrieve randomly ordered treasures, with Glow Pikmin requiring only a tap and appearing based on the time of day. The interface centered around the camera view, with a taskbar for help, treasure collection, photos, and Pikmin count—including a special icon for Oatchi once discovered. Photos captured in-game displayed contextual details like Pikmin types, treasures, and timestamps, all branded with the modern Pikmin series logo.
